Hello again fellow gamers and devs!
I have some unfortunate news regarding the Probe mobile port. After testing it and tweaking it over and over last week or 2 I ran into some severe performance issues after level 10 I was unable to resolve. The further in the game you got the worse it performed until it became unplayable. I have tried everything I could think of to fix the issue but I believe it to be a game engine issue (Clickteam Fusion 2.5). This means the original base release game from PC can not be ported BUT I have a new plan. I am still going to make a Probe game for mobile except it will be a bit different from the original and sort of a spin off and made with Unity to ensure quality. Since I already have all the assets from the original game it shouldn't take me too long to make it although I will be adding a few new assets. I do also have to learn a little bit of new code for mobile which will be the most time consuming aspect. I don't want to reveal too much about it just yet until I can get a prototype/alpha but, for now, I will say the new assets will be new ships you can purchase with earned in game currency. Will post some screenshots and video when I get something solid to show.
ALSO big THANK YOU to everyone who has purchased, played and reviewed Probe on Steam! Probe finally has a enough steam reviews to receive a "positive" rating display that will pop up on the game page and in the search lists:
Just a quick update about my other bigger project I am working on that still is to be announced...I have still been working on that as well. Mostly fleshing out the story(ies). It will be fairly story heavy but without saying much it also won't take away from the gameplay. Trying to incorporate as much of the story into the gameplay itself so it has fewer or shorter cutscenes and a lot of optional lore or dialogue to discover. on the side. That's about all I'm willing to say on that project for the moment. It will still be some time until I am able to fully announce the game, especially since I am still working on Probe mobile and then will start Probe 2 when the mobile version is done.
I also still plan on making a blog post about "What I learned from my first indie game release" but will probably be after I finish Probe mobile. My day/night job on top working on Probe Mobile as well as my other project has kept me very busy lately. I will post some more updates as soon as I can though. Until next time, take care, stay safe and game on!
