About Nate Bit Games

Hello World! My name is Nathan Hicks. I was born in 1987 and live in the Dallas, TX area. Currently I solo develop every game from Nate Bit Games. Although I sometimes outsource for music and sound. Originally, I pursued a degree in graphic design and traditional art in my college years and did many commissions in that time but didn't take my dream of independent game development seriously until more recently when the tools and self-publishing became more readily available.

Games in general have always been a passion of mine all the way back to the Atari 2600 days when I was kid (was my first console). I also constantly day-dreamed in school about games I'd like to see made and still have notebooks full of ideas and crude sketches. Eventually, in my early teens I discovered Click Team products for easy game making & made a lot of crude mini games in my free time. As I got older, I began making detailed custom Dungeons & Dragons worlds & campaigns to play with my friends. I even dabbled in making Minecraft adventure maps while trying to grow an audience livestreaming on Twitch & running a YouTube channel.

Around 2015 I decided to finally start taking game development more seriously, both on teams & solo, as a career path. To date I have done 10 game jams (3 solo), including 3 Ludum Dares, & I have worked on 3 games published on Steam including my own game: "Probe". Currently, I am working on developing a new title in Unity 3D that will be much larger scoped & story driven that will be announced sometime in the near future with the possibility of another smaller scoped game release in between. I am also currently pursuing a paid position within an existing studio to further advance my career while still working on my passion projects.
